The TechBridge Program provides entrepreneurs with access to Fraunhofer's global network of research institutions in order to meet early-stage technical milestones. TechBridge then works to match select startups with the most appropriate form of financing either through grants or strategic investors. This innovative program helps reduce technology risk for entrepreneurs and investors by supplying Fraunhofer research and development services at the critical early stages of technology development.
The TechBridge Program uses a multi-stage selection process to select its clients:
Potential clients begin by submitting a technical summary or pitch deck.
- The summary should be based around a core technology based on advanced research, ideally with patent protection.
- There must be a clearly identifiable market, and business plan that leads to a significant competitive advantage.
Once a submission has been received, the TechBridge team will perform an internal technical and market review. Selection criteria are based on the interests of the TechBridge funding group and strategic partners as well as alignment with technical resources within Fraunhofer.
If selected, the TechBridge team will work with internal Fraunhofer researchers and the client company to create a scope of work designed to reach the next set of technical milestones.
If necessary, the TechBridge team will also identify appropriate funding sources for the client's current stage of development, drawing on grant opportunities, strategic investors, or funding partners. Access to other business development services such as legal counsel and incubator space can be provided as necessary.
Client Privilege
Throughout the entire process, Fraunhofer is committed to keeping all client information strictly confidential. We will also work with clients to develop a secure and defensible IP strategy.
