PV Modules Group - June 2010 to July 2011

Educational Background: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne

Experience Prior to CSE: Experimental work on optoelectronic devices at EPFL and spin qubits at Harvard

Projects at CSE: Solar simulator studies of angle-of-incidence power loss; Environmental testing of new module concepts; Development of quality-control methods for polymeric encapsulants

My internship at Fraunhofer CSE gave me the opportunity to explore several different aspects of PV module production and optimization, from light management and environmental stability to material choices and installation options. The collaborative atmosphere and diverse team make for a great learning environment and frequent collaborations with commercial partners gave me a valuable perspective on the PV industry as a whole. This internship was an excellent technical experience for me to get launched into the world of solar energy research, and also a lot of fun!
