Nolan Browne Addresses AURP Gathering
On Thursday, December 11th, CSE Managing Director Nolan Browne joined Fraunhofer USA Executive Vice President Dr. William Hartman in addressing the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) at its 2008 Annual Meeting in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Nolan Browne Featured Speaker at Thin Film Solar Summit
Nolan Browne was a featured speaker at the Thin Film Solar Summit in San Francisco. Mr. Browne's presentation, entitled "Emerging Technologies in the Solar Landscape: Can Thin Films Play a Major Role", was delivered on December 3rd, and offered an overview of new and innovative companies and technologies in the thin film field.
Nolan Browne Featured Speaker at Innovation Norway Event
On Monday, November 17th, CSE Managing Director Nolan Browne addressed select members of the Oslo Renewable Energy and Environment Cluster (OREEC) on the topic of sustainable energy research in the MIT ecosystem. The event, one of a series organized by Innovation Norway, featured additional talks by Nicholas d'Arbeloff of the New England Clean Energy Council (NECEC), Bill Aulet of the MIT Sloan Entrepreneurship Center, and Justin van Rooyen, Director of Business Development at the Mascoma Corporation.
Nolan Browne Featured Speaker at German-American Business Panel
CSE Managing Director Nolan Browne was a featured speaker at the German American Business Association's panel discussion "Solar Power: Winning PV Partnerships: A Bright Future for the US-German Model" at the Solar Power 2008 Conference in San Diego. The panel, which ran on October 14th, gathered a range of German and American cleantech leaders to discuss various business models based on transatlantic cleantech partnerships.
Roland Schindler to Speak at Reception for German State Secretary
CSE Executive Director Roland Schindler was a featured speaker at Invest In Germany's invitation-only reception for German State Secretary Dr. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup. The reception was held on October 14th at the Le Méridien Hotel in Cambridge, and featured additional remarks from Michael J. Ahearn, CEO and Chairman of First Solar, Inc.
Tonio Buonassisi to Speak at Inaugural Solar Summit Freiburg
CSE Scientific Director Tonio Buonassisi was a featured speaker at the ISE-sponsored Solar Summits Freiburg. The event, which ran from October 22nd to 24th, was the first in a planned series of annual congresses discussing new research findings and their applications in the renewable energy field.

CSE Scientific Director Tonio Buonassisi was featured in the Technology Review's September/October MIT News insert. The article, entitled "Bright Days for Solar", examines the recent resurgence in cutting-edge solar research at MIT.
Weil Gotshal to Provide Legal Counsel to CSE
Internationally renowned law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges will be providing the MIT-Fraunhofer CSE with legal counsel in regards to contracts and IP agreements under the terms of a new partnership drawn up earlier this month. Weil Gotshal joins the CSE's larger network of existing sponsors, including National Grid and the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative.
Nolan Browne Keynote Speaker at PV Annual 2008
CSE Managing Director Nolan Browne delivered the keynote at Greentech Media's PV Annual 2008 event on May 28th. Mr. Browne's speech focused on the value added by the CSE to the Massachusett solar community as well as opportunities for collaboration between the two.

MTC Becomes Founding Sponsor for CSE
On April 12th, 2008, the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC) signed an agreement with the CSE, making it the first official sponsor of the new Center. Under the terms of the agreement, the MTC will provide the CSE with a grant of $5 million over the course of the next four years.
National Grid Joins CSE Industry Alliance
Utilities provider National Grid has joined the CSE as the first member of the newly-created CSE Industry Alliance. Under the terms of the partnership, Jennifer Zschokke, National Grid's Vice President of Sustainable Development, will also be joining the CSE's Board of Advisors.
Fraunhofer and MIT Establish Research Center for Renewable Energy
Germany's Fraunhofer Society announced plans to collaborate with the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the 2008 MIT Energy Conference. The first product of this relationship is the Center for Sustainable Energy Systems, a cutting-edge research center to be sited on MIT's main campus.

Fraunhofer USA Hires Business Developer for Sustainable Energy Center
Fraunhofer USA, Inc., in conjunction with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE), has hired Nolan Browne as Director of Business Development for Sustainable Energy. Browne will plan the start-up and operations of a new research center, the Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems, which will be located in the New England area.
