PV Module Engineer

The Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE) is looking for a PV Module Engineer to join its PV Modules Group. Reporting to the group leader, you will be a key part of a dynamic team leveraging our affliation with other Fraunhofer Centers and university partners.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  

  • Perform a variety of R&D projects related to PV modules.
  • Establish operation, maintenance and calibration procedures for laboratory equipment.
  • Assist the PV Modules Group in selecting and developing appropriate projects for its PV module lab, and assist in developing written proposals for competitive grant applications.
  • Work closely with customers in establishing a work plan, executing tasks in a timely manner, and completing written reports.
  • Assist in the supervision of students and visiting scientists.
  • Interface with management, customers, specialist engineers, and vendors.

 Required Experience and Education:

 

  • A degree (preferably advanced) in an engineering or scientific subject
  • At three years experience in at least one of the following: PV solar module design, manufacturing, or testing
  • Successful completion of a major product launch
  • Familiarity with new and emerging PV module technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated mentorship capability
  • Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organization, combined with ability to work independently
  • A "can-do" outlook for daily task in the lab
  • An aptitude for learning new things
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to support the team's research projects
  • Work to ensure that the laboratory remains a positive, creative and safe work environment at all times
About Fraunhofer CSE:

The Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE) is a contract R&D organization based in Cambridge, MA.  CSE, created as a partnership of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE), the State of Massachusetts and MIT, is dedicated to serving the applied research needs of the sustainable energy industry, helping established industry players and newcomers alike develop clean energy technologies from the laboratory to the production line.  The Center focuses on two key areas: building energy efficiency and next generation photovoltaic modules development.
