As Controls/IT Technician you will be responsible for programming and administering test data acquisition systems, databases, general IT-infrastructure and the phone system. You will work with outside IT consultants as well as in-house engineers to set-up the systems and develop procedures and programs. Principal Responsibilities:
- Develop data acquisition and storage systems for test data, using mostly LabView software
- Help to build and program test and measuring equipment (weather stations, climate chambers, solar flasher, safety test equipment, etc.)
- Work with test engineers to program routines for data analysis and generation of test reports
- Work with the operations engineer to implement a production control and quality management system, including bar code scanners, in accordance with ISO 17025 laboratory standards
- Work with external IT-firm to set-up and maintain the IT-Infrastructure (network servers, PC and Mac workstations, phone system, remote access, back-ups, etc.)
- Administer and install software on work stations, develop software standards, train users
- Troubleshoot equipment control systems and IT/communication problems
- Become knowledgeable in test standards and stay abreast of new industry developments
Required Experience and Education:
- Associate degree in Computer, Software or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent other education, e.g. Microsoft Certifications)
- 3+ years of experience in database programming, LabView, and IT-systems administration
- Thorough understanding of test data acquisition and machine control systems
- Interest in building custom solutions for testing and metrology of solar systems
- Experience trouble-shooting and repairing electrical, computers and IT-equipment
- Willingness to continuous learning, mentoring others and working in a team
Additional Qualifications:
- Programming/application experience with Laboratory Software, Production Control Systems, Database Systems, SQL, Lotus Notes, MS-Access, Quickbooks, Phone Systems, CAD software, MS-Office (expert level), and Remote Applications
- Ability to program PV-test and measuring equipment, including environmental chambers, solar simulators, electrical and mechanical test equipment
- Experience working in a ISO 17025 certified laboratory
