The Fraunhofer-MIT Alliance brings together Europe's leading contract research organization and one of America's most renowned universities, combining world-leading experience in basic and applied research to tackle today's critical energy questions. Activities envisioned include the sharing of technical know-how and resources as well as collaboration on advanced applied research and high-level grants.
Fraunhofer's collaboration with MIT was formally announced in April of 2008. Current areas of focus include solar energy application and building technology.
