The Fraunhofer Energy Alliance

Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems

Opening Markets with Energy

As a member of the Fraunhofer Energy Alliance, the Fraunhofer CSE is working together with ten other Fraunhofer Institutes to create a single unified network for research and development in the areas of energy technologies and energy research. The Alliance works for commercial customers of all sizes, including large energy utilities, and political decision-makers. Its objective is to lay the foundations for a sustainable, reliable, and economical energy supply.

Business Areas

The Alliance's work is chiefly focused on renewable energy sources (solar energy, biomass, wind power); energy-efficient technologies (fuel cells, combined heat and power (CHP) systems and gas delivery, building-service technologies, power electronics); buildings and components (low-energy-houses, building energy technology); intelligent energy nets (p.e. systemtechnological net integration of distributed generators; electrical energy storage and micro-energy systems (lithium battery technology, fuel-cell systems).

To this end, the alliance cooperates with four other Fraunhofer networks: Microenergy Technology, Wind Energy, Direct-Ethanol Fuel Cell and Intelligent Energy Nets.
